Building strong relationships between student and teacher and student and parent has been supported in research widely. At Moms of Macomb we believe that we should do everything to foster good relationships with the people who teach our children.

We feel that those relationships can be strengthen as we work to know and understand one another. Maybe we don't know enough about the methods that a teacher uses in the classroom, maybe we don't know all that a teacher must encounter during the course of the day that goes beyond instruction. Maybe a teacher does not know enough about a student that could make a difference in how a student achieves. Maybe we don't know that that teacher rushes home everyday to put a meal on the table just as we do, or must work more than one job to make ends meet just as we do.

The point is the more we understand about one another, the better chance that we can be successful in building positive relationships between students, parents, and teachers.

On behalf of the Moms of Macomb(MOM) we are extending invitations to educators to share a meal with us. To tell us about their craft, perhaps why teaching is important to them. We can share the educational goals and dreams we have for our children. And perhaps we can walk away from the experience with a better understanding of why our mutual goal of achievement for all students can be better reached if we work together.
